Creating a CPM campaign

CPM (Cost Per Mille) campaigns are campaigns that use an advertiser relationship model that provides a fixed payment for every thousand ad impressions. After logging in, the campaign creation function will be available in your personal account. To create a CPM campaign, go to the Campaigns / Campaigns section and click the "Create Campaign" button.

All fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.

Name, URL, payment model, format selection

The key difference between creating a CPM campaign and other campaigns is the choice of payment model. A more detailed description of the campaign settings can be found below.
IMPORTANT: after saving the campaign, it will not be possible to change the payment model and format.
4 popular ad formats are available for placement:

  • Native — consists of an image with intriguing text that captures attention and encourages the user to take a target action.
  • Banner — can be static, dynamic, or interactive. A wide range of available sizes allows you to creatively convey any advertising message.
  • Push — users who have consented to receive notifications see ads consisting of a title, description, and photo. Clicking on a push notification automatically redirects the user to the target page.
  • In-Page Push — an ad unit that looks like a native notification on the website. The user does not need to subscribe to newsletters or agree to receive notifications in advance — the notification will appear when the user visits the site.

Then access to subsequent groups of settings will open.

  • Campaign group selection — for organizing advertising campaigns.
  • Payment model — CPC (per click), CPM (per impression), CPA Target.
  • Campaign URL — the link users will be redirected to.
  • Campaign name — we recommend naming it in a way that makes it easy to navigate among other campaigns in the future.

GEO bids and traffic quality

  • Countries and country bids — a list of available GEOs. You can select all countries of a specific continent at once, or specify a particular country. Here you also set the desired CPM (price per 1,000 impressions) and the target conversion cost — the average price you want to pay for each conversion.

Targeting options allow you to include and exclude specific countries, cities, and providers. Bids are also set here; for each list (if there are several) you can set a specific bid and conversion cost. To add the next list of countries, click "Add another bid".

  • Cities — inclusion and exclusion of cities/regions.
  • Connection type — traffic segmentation between 3G/LTE and Wi-Fi is available.
  • ISP — inclusion and exclusion of mobile operators.

  • Conversion status settings — select a template if you are working with an affiliate program. Otherwise, leave the fields empty. If there is no suitable template, contact support or your manager.

To the right of the campaign settings there is a handy Forecaster tool — it shows potential traffic volumes depending on your targeting settings, creatives, and campaign bids.

Targeting

CPM7.png

After completing the basic settings, the system will prompt you to select targeting. The following parameters are available here:

  • Platform — determines on which platforms and platform versions the ad will be displayed.
  • Devices — determines on which devices the ad will be shown.
  • Browser — determines in which browsers the ad will be displayed.
  • Browser language — a setting to display ads only to users whose browser is set to one of the languages selected in this setting.
  • Categories — allows you to specify categories (Adult Content, News, Mainstream) in which the ad will be displayed.

In the "News" category, narrower subcategories are available. These are all categories of pages where creatives will be placed, so there is a chance that selecting the narrowest category may result in very little traffic.

  • Subscription age — a setting to display ads only to users whose subscription age on sites matches one of the values selected in this setting. Available only for Push Classic campaign format.
CPM9.png
  • Retargeting — a marketing technology that allows you to show your ads specifically to users who have previously visited your site but did not complete a target action. The key feature and main difference of retargeting from other advertising is that you show ads only to the audience that was interested in your products or services, spending your budget only on the target audience. This tool can be used to encourage users to complete a target action: purchase, deposit, lead, etc.

To enable/disable retargeting, you need to create an audience based on your current campaigns. See Audiences for instructions.

  • Site blacklist and whitelist — enter site IDs, one entry per line. The blacklist allows you to block ad impressions on a specific site. Ad materials from the whitelist will only be shown on sites from that list.
  • IP range blacklist and whitelist — enter the IP address ranges for which your ad will be shown. One entry per line, separated by commas, semicolons, or spaces. Values can be entered in subnet IP format, IP range format (with a dash), or CIDR notation. Upon saving, addresses will be converted to a list of ranges. Maximum number of IP ranges — 10,000. Minimum range size — 8 IPs.
  • Source blacklist and whitelist — enter source IDs to include/exclude ad impressions.

Limits, budget and restrictions

CPM12.png

After targeting settings come the budget, limits, and restriction parameters.
Basic settings:

  • Total budget — the maximum amount that can be paid by the advertiser for the entire duration of the campaign for targeted user actions.
  • Daily budget — the maximum amount that can be paid by the advertiser per day for targeted user actions performed within the current campaign. This field is required.

IMPORTANT: when setting these limits, keep in mind that they may be exceeded. With broad targeting in a campaign, the specified value may be exceeded several times.

  • Uniform daily distribution — an option to ensure that ad material is served evenly across all sites available under the targeting.
CPM13.png
  • Maximum loss — enter the maximum possible loss for the campaign (Spent minus Earned), upon reaching which the campaign will be paused.

IMPORTANT: please note that the limit may be exceeded.

  • Show material no more than — specify the number and frequency of ad material impressions to a single user.
  • Show campaign no more than — specify the number and frequency of campaign impressions to a single user.
  • Maximum number of clicks per day — the total number of user clicks that can be made on the ad materials of the current campaign per day. Minimum value for the field — 100.
  • Minimum number of impressions per day — this restriction prevents ads from being shown on sites whose daily impression count is less than the specified number.
  • Maximum number of impressions per day — this restriction prevents ads from being shown on sites whose daily impression count exceeds the specified number.
  • Maximum number of conversions per day — in this field you can limit the maximum number of conversions per day. Once this limit is reached, the campaign will be paused.
CPM14.png
  • Campaign start date — two options are available for launching the current campaign: "Immediately" and "Set (date and time)".
  • Campaign end date — only the "Set (date and time)" option is available. Note: if you are not limited by a campaign end date, leave the field empty and select "Immediately" in the "Campaign start date" field.
  • Schedule — this setting allows you to specify the desired time and days of the week for the campaign to run. For convenience, buttons with standard time presets most commonly used by our advertisers have been added: "Weekdays", "Weekends", "Working hours".

To adjust the schedule, you can manually check the time and days of the week for your campaign impressions.
There is also the option to adjust the time zone in two variants: UTC+3 and "User time" — the user's time zone, where ads will be shown only by the user's local time.
